My Disney Wedding

Have you ever thought to yourself, "I wish I could have a Disney Wedding." Well I am here to tell you that YOU CAN! If I can do it, anyone can.

My Husband and I recently got married at a beautiful Country Club here in Georgia. Our wedding may not have had the iconic backdrop of Cinderella's Castle, but we had every Disney detail you could possibly imagine. AND all of our family and friends there to celebrate with us!

{Now before I say anything else, I want to state that I am in NO way, shape, or form trying to persuade anyone to NOT have a Disney Fairytale Wedding. We would have LOVED to have a Disney Fairytale Wedding! In fact, I am quite obsessed with the TV show and never miss an episode. My Husband and I simply decided that having more family and friends present at our wedding was more important to us. We knew that not everyone would have been able to travel for a destination wedding. So we were met with the question of, "How do we plan our own Disney-inspired wedding ourselves?" Whether your reasoning is financial, wanting more friends and family present, or something else, I am here to tell you how I did it.}

* STEP 1: PICK A THEME

-Do you want your wedding to be inspired by a specific Disney movie? (Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, etc.)

-Do you want a Mickey and Minnie Mouse theme?

-Do you want a Princess and Prince theme with Royal touches? (Royal colors, a Royal Ball, Black-Tie Dress Code)

-Or like me, do you want a general Disney themed wedding? (Disney movie inspirations, Mickey and Minnie, and Disney magic touches)

-Do you want a Disney Parks theme? (Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios)

* STEP 2: PICK TABLE ARRANGEMENTS

-Do you just want table numbers?

-Like me, do you want each table to be a different Disney Movie?

-Do you want each table to be a Disney Parks ride? (Teacups, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.)

-Do you want each table to be a different Parks land? (Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland, Frontierland)

* STEP 3: PICK FINAL DISNEY TOUCHES

-Have your cake decorator make you a custom Disney-themed cake

-Incorporate your favorite Disney songs into your ceremony and/or reception (I walked down the aisle to an Instrumental version of "Tale As Old As Time." I also had "Be Our Guest" playing as soon as our guests entered our reception.)

-Do you want to look like a Princess? Buy a ballgown as your wedding dress and even wear a tiara if your heart desires

-Use your imagination and think of how you can make your guests feel like they are at Walt Disney World without having to leave the State!

TO HELP GIVE YOU SPECIFIC IDEAS, BELOW IS WHAT I DID:

-My Disney Tables

Each table was inspired by a different Disney Classic Film.

- My Disney Cake

My wedding colors were gold, rose gold, and champagne so I made sure to incorporate gold into my wedding cake. I also had always envisioned my Cinderella wedding snow globe inside of the cake. My baker was amazing and was able to add a tier layer of support to add in the snow globe piece. ALSO! Do you recognize that cake topper? I read a rumor online that you could call the Disney In-Room Dining number at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and buy a Cinderella's Castle cake topper. And guess what? YOU CAN! Of course it was based on if they had extra already made in the kitchen. I was lucky. They were so nice and helpful! It is solid white chocolate.

It has to be kept in room temperature, NOT IN THE FRIDGE OR FREEZER. It is fragile, so be very careful if you travel with it. My Husband and I drove 7 hours home with it boxed up. Make sure you drive very carefully if you do this.

DISCLAIMER: It will come solid white (no color). I added the gold myself with edible paint from Hobby Lobby. I am no artist, but it was very easy. You could also ask your cake decorator to decorate it if you do not want to try to attempt it yourself. }

-My Extra Disney Details

Unlike many Brides, I loved planning every minute of our wedding. Every detail brought so much joy to create. I loved knowing that our wedding was 100% original and that it represented us as a couple. If I can do it, I promise you can too! Just let your Disney imagination soar and Disney magic will surround your wedding day. My goal was not just to create a wedding, but instead to create a magical Disney experience for our guests that made them feel like they were at Walt Disney World and made them feel like a kid again. We love Disney so much and we wanted our guests to be able to enjoy it with us too! I hope this post helped give you Disney ideas to create your own original Disney wedding!
